About the Сenter

Family Center "Dotyk" is a space where a child can meet with their parents.

We help children maintain connections with their loved ones in difficult family situations, including:

  • challenging divorces, where parents struggle to manage emotions in the presence of the child;
  • cases of domestic violence, where the child needs a safe environment;
  • termination of parental rights, when a child loses contact with one of the parents;
  • threats of child abduction by one of the parents;
  • difficulties in communication between mother and father or child alienation.

We have over ten years of experience in the field of family mediation. Our team of like-minded professionals — family mediators, psychologists, psychotherapists, and lawyers — established the first family contact Сenter in Ukraine. We strive to preserve family relationship where possible and protect children from physical and psychological violence, emotional trauma, and stress. We believe that a child’s connection with both parents is a crucial source of support they need throughout their life.

Family Center "Dotyk" is a neutral place where children of separated families can meet with their parents, and sometimes with other family members, in a comfortable and safe environment.

About the Сenter

History of the Organization

2010

In 2010, we launched the first pilot project providing family mediation services in Ukraine, in cooperation with the Children’s Services of the Darnytskyi District Administration, with the support of the Ukrainian Mediation Center.

2017

In 2017, the NGO "League of Mediators of Ukraine" was established. It is the largest provider of family mediation services in Ukraine and collaborates with various state institutions, offering family mediation services across the country. The organization is also a resident of the Veteran Hub, working with military families.

2019

In 2019, the NGO "Association of Family Mediators of Ukraine" was established as a representative body for the community of family mediators in the country. The Association aims to develop the practice of family mediation in Ukraine, support family mediators in their professional growth, and ensure the quality of family mediation services by developing practice and accreditation standards, as well as a code of ethics for family mediators.

2022

At the beginning of 2022, the project “Family Mediation During Wartime” was launched to support the work of family mediators in Ukraine and to provide mediation services to all Ukrainian families affected by the war. This project brought together the efforts of many family mediators (over 50 mediators), both those who remained in Ukraine and those who were forced to relocate to other countries. In response to the new challenges faced by family mediators, a trauma-informed approach was introduced into their practice. This significantly increased the effectiveness of working with family conflicts among families that have experienced war-related trauma, such as occupation, evacuation, captivity, loss of loved ones, homes, or jobs.

2024

In 2024, we founded the public organization Family Center "Dotyk", bringing together the efforts and practices of various specialists (lawyers, psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers, notaries, etc.), working within the mediation approach to support children and their families during difficult periods of life and to preserve family ties.
